Bred by Betty Brandon in Lancashire, she came to me as a 6 year old in October 2004. A difficult character, we soon began to realise that her ability and talent over a fence was phenomenal although her flatwork was a lot less inspiring at this time to say the least. I am privileged to own such a fabulous mare who will never leave this yard due to her being such a star.

She is my Horse of a lifetime and in 4 years she has never stopped at a fence and had very few poles down. Polly made my last year of Working Hunter Ponies in 2007 a major success winning the Royal International Horse show, Horse of the Year Show and bringing home 2 gold medals for GB both in the international competitions at Scotland and in Peterborough after representing GB for the past 3 years. She really does have a heart of 3 lions and the scope to match making a 1.60m upright look like 2ft 6 fence which is why she is so special.

Her results are too many to mention but her Major Successes include:

  • 1st and Reserve Champion at the Royal International Horse Show 2007
  • 1st and Reserve Champion at the Horse of the Year Show 2007
  • Represented GB for 3 years with 2 gold medals in 2007 in Scotland and England
  • Qualifying for RIHS every year since a 4 year old and HOYS since a 5 year old
  • Wins and championships at the East of England show, Midland Counties Show and the Royal Show

Polly has been the most consistent 15hh WHP for many years and although 2008 has been quiet for her due to my switch to eventing, she made a promising start with a 2nd in the intro at Oasby (although she nearly tripped over the fences due to the diminutive height). She will be competing in BSJA Foxhunter classes during the winter months before going into foal to hopefully produce a top class eventer with hopefully a lot less attitude than her!
