Do you prefer to be Called Rebecca or Becky?

Becky or Becks.

Where are you based?

I was born in Lincoln in 1990 and lived at Stubton, near Newark until June 2007. Whilst we had 3 stables and an acre of very heavy land at Stubton, we felt that this would not be adequate for our future plans with the horses and my Eventing career. After searching we found the ideal place at South Clifton where we have a reasonable amount of land, a superb set of indoor stables, outbuildings etc. We are improving the facilities all the time.

What about education?

I went to Highfields Junior School in Newark and then Kesteven and Sleaford Girls High where I managed to attain 11 GCSEs at A and A* followed by 4 A Levels. The school was extremely helpful and accommodating as I spent my A level year competing (with over 70 rides) as well as studying. If I hadn't chosen to be an Event Rider I would most probably have become a Vet.

When did you start Riding?

I started at 4 years of age with a really naughty Palomino called Sonata. I think my first competition was when I was 5.

What made you change from Working Hunters to Eventing?

I was right at the top of Working Hunters having won most of the major shows including The Horse of the Year Show and The Royal International Horse Show along with 3 Gold Medals riding for England. I had always seen Workers as a stepping stone to Eventing and the discipline of Showing at top level certainly taught me about producing horses and ring craft.

What about training?

I was taught by Felicity Woodland from the age of 4, until I needed the specialist coaching associated with Eventing. Felicity still keeps an eye on my riding but I am now coached by various people in the different disciplines.

How was 2009 and what is in store for 2010?

2009 was my first season as a full time Event Rider and I had a great time with just short of 100 rides. My results were good and I managed to avoid injury until the last event. The big difference for 2010 is that I am starting the season with 4 horses that have competed at Advanced level whereas in 2009 I only had the one (Harvey). I have The Diamond Hunter at Intermediate and also Clifton Clicquot who is proving to have real talent. I also have a number of good youngsters that I will be riding this season.

What are your ambitions?

I am an extremely competitive person and the only reason for competing is to try and win. Therefore my aim is to be right at the top of British Eventing.
